Being In Place

I’ve been quiet recently…. and pretty busy…
I have won a major Creative Wales Award, about which I am chuffed (as you can see when my face appears every so often in the Culture Colony video of the awards announcement – you can see it at http://www.culturecolony.com/videos?id=9122, part of a very interesting ‘Creative Wales Conversations’ event at Galeri, Caernarfon)
Very soon I will be immersing myself in the first landscape in my experiment….

Jo Fong portrait number 4 of 4

Had a very enjoyable week in September with Jo Fong, two film makers (and gorgeous baby Tara) dancing, drawing, talking, filming and simple living/feasting in and around Soar Glyd Studio. Plus some edgy high tide moments at ‘the witches cauldron’ (another favourite pembrokeshire site)… Jo is very good at facilitating – I felt so at ease talking about my work, experimenting with movement, playing…. such trust, and much fun…
“Women (working title): Jo Shapland is collaborating as subject, solo dancer and co-deviser with Jo Fong on one of four choreographic portraits of women with dance at the core of their lives. The completed screendance installation will premiere at the Dance House, Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff in late November 2011. Full details will be posted on Jo (Shapland)’s blog (www.mantroi.wordpress.com) and the National Dance Company of Wales’ website (www.ndcwales.co.uk) soon.”

the editing of all the portraits is in progress…. here’s a promo    http://vimeo.com/29879174
